HABITAT
Every day, more and more families find themselves in a struggle to keep a decent roof over their heads and live with a constant burden of uncertainty, stress and fear. We work with the local community to rebuild homes and provide basic household essentials so that caregivers can build a better lives for themselves and their families.
HADIJA'S STORY
In April 2019, the walls of Hadija's house collapsed after heavy rain, reducing half of the house to rubble. Hadija and her two grandchildren had to crawl through a narrow gap to reach the last remaining room. That night they could not sleep for fear that the roof would fall in on them. Our team were alerted the following morning and immediately began reconstruction, providing all materials and labour. Hadija said “I feared that this house would end my life. Now the house is fixed and I have an extra room for the grandchildren. I am very happy.”
