Dundee Charity Shop

The Children of Songea Charity Shop is now closed after a successful three weeks in Lochee. We hope to be back next year with more bargains.

We would like to thank everyone who donated goods, our hard-working volunteers and everyone who supported us in the shop — we could not have done it without you.

We raised in the region of £2,850 and this will go towards our project supporting many young orphans who will continue to receive meals, education, school uniforms, school materials and medical insurance.

We are still taking unwanted bikes which will be restored and sold on for the charity. Please phone Charly on 01382 581412. — Joyce Mathers and Kathleen Coutts (Trustees).

Dundee Cyclathon

Cyclathon 003
On Sunday 11 September 2011 the Twende (Swahili for ‘let’s go) team set off from Camperdown Park to cycle round the green circuit of Dundee (26 miles) to raise money for Children of Songea.  We were all in good spirits but a bit apprehensive of the remnants of Hurricane Katia catching up with us!  We had a bit of a blustery side wind along Riverside Drive and along the coast at Broughty Ferry but we managed to leave that behind as we cycled up towards Trottick Pond and Finlathen Park.  Charly and Owen were waiting for us at the bottom of Harestane Road with a welcome and a nice cuppie to help us on our way up the long hill of Laird Street before we circuited round Clatto and into Templeton Woods to finish at Camperdown Park in a time three hours.  We thoroughly enjoyed our Cyclathon and thank everyone who sponsored us.  We have raised in the region of £500.
