Nomination for Charity of the Year

Children of Songea Trust are proud to announce that we have been nominated for the African Achievers Awards 2012! We are being considered for the Charity of the Year category in recognition of the contribution the charity has made to fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS in Tanzania. This is a great honour and we are privileged to be considered along with other charities working so hard to make a difference in Africa. The awards will be announced on 22 February at a ceremony at Kings College London, which will also recognise the outstanding contribution and leadership shown by Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Big Shindig and Other Events

We have had a busy and successful few weeks of fundraising with events such as the Big Shindig and the Comedy Night in Edinburgh, and the charity shop in Dundee. Together with our own fundraising efforts, our supporters have organised their own sponsored challenges such as the Dundee Cyclathon team (see article below) and the Height of Stuidity Bungee Jump team who are braving the leap from Tummel Bridge on 21 October!

We estimate that in total we have managed to raise alomost £6,000 during the last couple of months! A fantastic achievement, but it doesn't stop there; we have our film event coming up in December, which is bound to be popular.

Thank you once again to everyone who has helped us raise so much money. Please get in touch if  you can think of any new and creative ways to fundraise for the charity. We'd love to hear from you.
